The Big Game

I know I usually stick to college football in my blogs. But seeing as that season is over, I figured I would talk a little about the extravaganza that is the Super Bowl.

First of all I have to admit, I am not a big NFL fan. The only team that I follow is the Cowboys. I even went into last week not really all that excited about the Super Bowl. But if there is one thing the NFL does well, it is hype.

That's a wrap

Well I guess it is time to say goodbye to the 2007 college football season.

After a year where we learned to expect the unexpected, we saw pretty much what we expected from the national champioship game between LSU and Ohio State.

Although the Tigers got off to a slow start, they eventually regrouped and pretty much dominated the game for the final three quarters.

BCS Championship

First off I have to thank the Kansas Jayhawks for pulling back to an even 2-2 in the major bowl games. My Sooners let me down big time and Hawaii never got a chance to get their offense going.

Now, whether or not I finish above 500 will be decided by the national championship between Louisiana State University and Ohio State University.

Fiesta Bowl

Weel it's finally time to talk a little about my Sooners.

Both Oklahoma and West Virginia arrived in Arizona on Wednesday to begin preparations for the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2.

The Mountaineers are coming in following weeks of turmoil to say the least. They blew a chance to play for the national championship by losing to a pretty poor Pitt team. Then to make matters worse, their head coach accepted the Michigan job and bolted for Ann Arbor.

Rose and Sugar Bowls

Alright, today I will take a look at two more major bowl games. I will start with the Rose Bowl between Southern Cal and Illinois, followed by the Sugar Bowl between Georgia and Hawaii.

Orange Bowl

All right, I promised a look at all the major bowl games, so first up is the Orange Bowl.

The University of Kansas makes its first appearance in a major bowl game since 1969 against ACC champs Virginia Tech.

Everyone is clowning on KU, claiming they don't deserve a BCS bowl because of their "weak" schedule. From what I have seen, most experts are picking Tech to win by a couple of touchdowns. I'm not so sure about that.

Week 14, A Fitting End

Saturday proved to be a fitting end to a college football regular season that is without wuestion the craziest one I have ever seen.

Week 13 (The year of the upset)

If it wasn't already, this weekend hammered home the fact that this has indeed been the year of the upset. Yet another No. 1 team fell as teams positioned themselves for the final week of the regular season.

The No. 1 LSU Tigers lost 50-48 at home in triple overtime to unranked Arkansas on Friday. I don't know if Less had his eye on the Michigan job or what, but it looks like LSU's second overtime loss of the year will keep them out of the national title picture.

Week 12

This past weekend started out with great optimism after Oregon's loss at Arizona on Thursday night, but it quickly turned south Saturday night when my Sooners fell to Texas Tech at Lubbock.

Mike Stoops tried to help out brother Bob Thursday night, as Arizona took advantage of an injury to Oregon's starting quarterback. The Wildcats handed the Ducks their second loss of the season winning 34-24 and knocking them out of national title contention.

Week 11 (We need a playoff in college football)

Surprise, another No. 1 goes down.

This week it was Ohio State losing at home to a pretty talented Illinois team. While the Big Game between the Buckeyes and Michigan likely will not have an effect on the national championship picture, it could still determin who plays in the Rose bowl.
