The Big Game

I know I usually stick to college football in my blogs. But seeing as that season is over, I figured I would talk a little about the extravaganza that is the Super Bowl.

First of all I have to admit, I am not a big NFL fan. The only team that I follow is the Cowboys. I even went into last week not really all that excited about the Super Bowl. But if there is one thing the NFL does well, it is hype.

Having two weeks in between the league championship games and the Super Bowl does nothing but give them extra time to build up the game and talk about issues that really have nothing to do with the actual game. I think I heard a broadcaster talking about Tom Brady's fashion choices earlier this week.

Anyway, this year's matchup is really quite intriguing –– for the obvious reason –– that being the Patriots chance at going undefeated.

I know a lot of people love to hate the Pats. It almost seems like they have become the New York Yankees of football. But I have to say, I would love to see them win and remain undefeated.

The last and only time an NFL team has gone undefeated was in 1972, when the Miami Dolphins capped off a perfect season with a win in the Super Bowl. So it is not very often that something like this happens. Being the youngster that I am, I wasn't around in 1972, and I think it would be awesome to see an NFL team go undefeated. Do I wish it was Dallas? Sure. But beggers can't be choosers.

So if you are on the fence and don't really care about who wins the Super Bowl this year, why not root for the Patriots and a little bit of history.
