ADA - If MG plant is dead, why not chase VW?

Volkswagen is currently looking at locations around the U.S. for a new automobile plant, and Ardmore makes a lot of sense, given that the MG deal is probably DOA.  Volkswagen's new diesels should continue to be hot sellers with oil hovering around and above $100/bbl, so I have no doubt that current business woes are just that - 'current,' and have a lot to with the weakness of the USD versus the EUR.  Building a plant and encouraging suppliers to locate at the Ardmore Airpark would be a boon for the economy.

Quote from Bloomberg:

"The dollar's fall to an all-time low against the euro this week has made Volkswagen's need for a U.S. plant all the more critical, Wittig said. The Wolfsburg, Germany-based carmaker has ``in these last days started the selection process by looking at various locations all over the U.S.,'' he said.

Volkswagen has been losing money in North America since 2003. Stefan Jacoby took over as U.S. chief on Sept. 1 and a month later announced plans to move the regional headquarters to Virginia from Michigan, eliminating 400 of 1,400 jobs. Volkswagen has ruled out Canada as a location for a North American factory, Wittig said, adding that a final decision on a plant should come before the end of June."

VW Plant

I agree with you 100% my friend, but i would be willing to bet you that their are some who are still trying to get over that last car deal. One more car deal like that and presto! They are going to have to go work for the people who own the auto company.
